The video shows the process, less like a #GordonMattaClark and more like an advertisement for drones. 3) a shrine to the new generation by Latvian #DariaMelnikova ’s Follow Me; 4) Finnish #nonbinary gender artist #ArturJesusInkerö used an artist’s grant to take vocal therapy and gain 20 kilos through drinking protein powder to explore the conventionally glorified male body. In their video they flex and relax in a hotel, being a dude. 5) Estonian #KarelKoplimets ’ Waiting For The Ship of Empties, a barge made out of empty beer cans that the artist sailed between Finland and Estonia, and which includes videos of both the making and sailing of the craft, to speak to the monetary flows of trade between the two countries; 6 and 7) #RomaAuškalnyte ’s Kato (Rooftop) some of the tiles of which are lithographic prints of #migration cards; 8) One of many animatronic installations by #NathanielMellors and #ErkkaNissinen previously shown in the Finnish pavilion at the #VeniceBiennale - dealing with issues of national identity and even, here, the building of walls, through sci fi puppetry; 9 and 10) #JaanusSaama working in video and vitrines to describe the rise and fall of a man who was both Chairman of a #collectivefarm and #gay .

Возвращаемся к музею «Киасма». Зацепила работа эстонского мастера Фло Касерау. Называется #Uprising - по замыслу автора отсылает одновременно к движению наверх и к восстанию. Суть в том, что когда настал момент перекрыть кровлю в семейном доме Фло в Таллине, она решила вырезать прямо на крыше и сложить там же большие самолетики. Экспозиция состоит из самого самолетика и видео о процессе создания. Видео тихое, светлое, мелодичное, спокойное, думаю, что можно найти в интернете. Правда работа на Северсталь дает о себе знать - весь просмотр ловил себя на мысли, что оцениваю безопасность процесса. Работают на высоте, страховки нет, наблюдающего внизу тоже, расстояние между досками большое и так далее 🙂😁 Последний кадр, где четыре самолета симметрично лежат и ждут полета - это здорово, креативно и глубоко, на мой дилетантский взгляд 🤔 Автор размышляла о безопасности Эстонии, о нарушении границ ее воздушного пространства, попытках вмешательства в жизнь страны, нарастающее напряжение между Россией и Западом. Тут много о чем можно размышлять, а ведь казалось бы - просто пришло время перестелить кровлю, обычный ремонт и никакой поэзии 😉

The Office for Curating Exhibition Archive #10 • On the Estonian Theatre - Twelve Proposals for Rakvere (2014), Kilometere of Sculpture, Rakvere • The exhibition coincides with the Baltoscandal international performing arts festival in Rakvere, and in judging the tremendous popularity of theatre in Estonia, the exhibition is a rise to the occasion that aims to expand the field of sculpture by seeking for its advancement through artistic practices that explore and activate sculpture in the key of theatre, performance and staging, and vice versa. On the Estonian Theatre: Twelve Proposals for Rakvere brings together works by a new generation of artists that address a certain ‘tension’ within their artistic practices: to strike a balance between the seemingly contradictory mediums of theatre, performance, staging and sculpture. Sculpture, almost per definition, is considered to be a solid and rigid object employed to give lasting form to matter, whereas theatre, performance and the act of staging are essentially fleeting and of a temporal nature. Nädala teos: Flo Kasearu „Kaks inimest mererannal, muud ei midagi“, 2017. Videoteos „Kaks inimest mererannal” (2017) jälgib kaht seitsmekümnendates eluaastates eesti naist nende suvepuhkusel Türgis – hõljumas täispuhutaval madratsil, nautimas sigaretti rannabaaris ja kogukehamassaaži Türgi saunas. Kunstnik jälgis kaameraga oma vanaema ja vanatädi pakettreisil Türki 2009. aastal, jäädvustades neid nii meelelahutuslikes kui ka erootiliselt laetud olukordades ning kujutades suvepuhkust moel, mida tavaliselt tarbimiskultuuris ei kohta. Samas ei sisaldu kahe eaka daami ajaviitmise jäädvustuses mingit hinnangut ega taotlust. Teos valmis näituse „Rändurid” jaoks, mis avatud Kumus veel selle kuu lõpuni. Flo Kasearu. Two People by the Beach, Nothing Else Video Two People by the Beach (2017) follows two Estonian women in their seventies during a summer vacation in Turkey: floating on an inflatable mattress, enjoying a cigarette at a beach-side bar and getting a full-body massage in a Turkish bath. Filmed by the artist as she accompanied her grandmother and great-aunt on a package tour in 2009, the footage includes images in both recreational and erotically-charged situations—images not usually portrayed in commercial representations of summer vacationing. The artist shows the two elderly ladies enjoying their leisure time without judgement or pretence.
